Crossword compiling software

Puzzle Workshop is a program for the automated compiling of crosswords. It comes in two flavours:

Version 1

This is free, a demo can be downloaded from this site. It compiles freeform crosswords only, read more on the information pages (right).

Version 2

This does everything that Version 1 does, but can additionally create symmetrical, newspaper-style crosswords from a built-in dictionary, and can combine your own word list with dictionary words. It can be purchased on-line for £12, click here for the Version 2 pages.

Demo Version

Click here to download the demo version. It doesn't need installing, just unpack the zip file into any folder. It comes with a couple of example files for importing. The demo is fully functional with respect to the built-in word lists, but can import a maximum of 50 words from external sources. A fully-functioning version that can import much longer word lists can be obtained free on demand, please send your request to

 

System requirements: Windows XP/Vista/98/95/NT etc with around 32Mb of memory and minimum 800x600 screen resolution.
